Keyon Boyd – Head Coach

Coach Boyd is a native of Marietta, Georgia, and is a graduate of Marietta High School. While at Marietta, he played basketball earning two consecutive Cobb County player of the year awards, all state awards, and playing in the Tennessee/Georgia All-Star game. Coach Boyd played basketball at Tennessee Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He has also earned his Master’s degree in Special Education from The University of the Southwest.

Coach Boyd’s coaching career began in 2006 as the JV Head Coach and Varsity assistant at Cass High School with Coach Ed Riddle. He accumulated a JV record of 12-4 that year. From 2007-2008 he coached alongside of Ty Phillips at Roswell High School as the varsity assistant coach. 2008-2018 Coach Boyd continued his coaching career at Hillgrove High with Ed Morris where he was an assistant for the varsity boys team. While at Hillgrove High coach Boyd help lead the Varsity boys team to the state playoffs every year while at Hillgrove which included a state championship appearance, several elite 8 and sweet 16 appearances. Coach Boyd has also helped several players reach there goal playing on the next level in college. He has over 10 years of coaching experience. Coach Boyd is truly honored to be apart of the Hiram High family and basketball program. This is Coach Boyd’s first year as the Hiram Hornets Head Basketball Coach.

Coach Boyd have three kids, Jaya (4), Joelle (7) and Jay (13)

Derrick Crosby – 9th Grade Coach/ Varsity Assistant

Derrick Crosby is from Atlanta, Ga. He is married and has two daughters. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996. After college, Coach Crosby began his coaching career as an Assistant Football Coach and JV Basketball Coach in Claxton, Ga. After two years in Claxton, Coach Crosby moved to Baxley, Ga., where he coached football, basketball, track and cross country. Coach Crosby has been at Hiram High School since 2002. Along with being the 9th grade basketball coach this year, he will also coach Track and Field for the school.

Charles Overall – Program Assistant

Coach Charles Overall is entering his 3rd year coaching of at Hiram High School. He spent 2 years with the Hiram middle school CCJBC Basketball program and one with the high school. Coach Overall is entering his 27th year of coaching. He began his coaching career at Fair Oaks North Georgia Football League in Marietta, GA as a Defensive Coordinator/ Defensive Backs Coach. He most recently coached at Whitefield Academy for 15 years. He successfully coached several sports while winning 3 GHSA Class A State Championships in Boys Basketball and getting to the State Tournament in football twice. Coach Overall has coached over 200 plus players that have played in college or the professional levels in multiple sports.
Coach Overall is from Louisville, Ky. While in high school, he lettered in several sports Football, Basketball, Soccer & Track. He attended The University of Louisville. Coach Overall served in the U.S. Navy for six years where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Allied Health Sciences and Technology. Coach Overall is married to Dr. Kecia Coar-Overall and has one son, Ryan Lamb, who played Div. 1 basketball at Marshall University, and daughter-in-law Kylie Melton-Lamb. He has two granddaughters: Kadence Monroe-Lamb and Kennedy Ryan Lamb.

 

Kathy Vaughn – Academic Advisor

Ms. Vaughn recently retired after 40 years of service as an educator.  She has taught at Washington High School, Washington, Indiana and R. L. Osborne High School, Marietta, Georgia.  She holds her bachelor’s degree from Oakland City University, in Oakland City, Indiana. She received her master’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

She has worked with the boys’ basketball programs at Osborne High School and Hiram High School as an academic advisor since 2001.
