BACKGROUND:

With more than 30 years of experience in public education, I have served as a teacher, instructional leader, assistant principal, principal, district level administrator, and adjunct professor. My career spans Georgia and Texas and includes leadership at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I bring extensive expertise in curriculum and instruction, special education, 504, MTSS, ELL, accountability systems, school improvement planning, and budget and fiscal management. I have led large staff, overseen complex instructional and special education programs, implemented PBIS and inclusive practices, and partnered closely with families, businesses, and community organizations to improve student outcomes.

FAMILY:

I am blessed and grateful to be the proud husband of Dr. Shawn ShaversSublett for over 30 years, who is an educator in a neighboring school system. We are the proud parents of Haley Sublett, a graduate of Georgia State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in health informatics and a master’s degree in healthcare administration. Haley currently works as an Associate Financial Analyst here in Georgia and is also the devoted owner of a Yorkie named Prince, who keeps me great company. I firmly believe in a familyfirst philosophy–because a strong, supportive, and nurturing environment allows individuals to thrive and this is the same environment I am committed to providing for our students each day at Hiram High School.

THOUGHTS ON YOUR ROLE:

I am excited and truly honored to serve as the principal of Hiram High School. I look forward to honoring and continuing Hiram’s strong traditions while also creating new ones. Central to this work is building strong, lasting relationships with students, parents, staff, and stakeholders as we work together as a TEAM–Together Everyone Achieves More. Through this collaboration, we will continue to strengthen our foundation of academic excellence while maintaining a supportive, safe, and welcoming environment that fosters pride in being a Hornet and creates memories that last a lifetime.
